About this set

This set brings together three commemorative Australian coins, issued in the past to mark important anniversaries of Gallipoli, and pairs them with an original Australian gold sovereign of 1915 – the very year of the Gallipoli landings. The gold sovereign, minted in solid 22-carat gold and measuring 22.05mm in diameter, was the highest value coin being produced in Australia at that time. Instantly recognisable, because of the design by Benedetto Pistrucci on the reverse, the obverse shows a bare head portrait of George V, facing left by the engraver Edgar Bertram Mackennal - the Australian sculptor and medallist, much admired by King George. The set of four coins comes to you housed in a distinguished presentation case with informative certificate of authenticity.
