‘80th Anniversary of Victory in the Pacific ‘Duty’ One Crown Commemorative Coin’

In December 1941, Japan commenced surprise attacks on the Malayan peninsula and Pearl Harbor in Hawaii - drawing Australia into War in the Pacific. In the years that followed, Australian forces fought fierce battles with the Japanese for control of the region - the first four months destined to become the most devastating in Australia’s wartime history. As the list of casualties and POWs mounted, horrific stories of deliberate mistreatment and malnutrition filtered back home.
Yet Australia never shirked its duty and people enlisted by their thousands. This meticulously crafted, fully etched, .999 Silver, 38.6mm Commemorative One Crown Coin from The Bradford Mint is one of just 1,945 minted worldwide to match the year the war ended. It celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific and Australia’s dutiful part in that tortuous conflict.
Accompanied by an informative and fact ridden booklet and Certificate of Authenticity, it is issued under the authority of the government of Ascension Island and approved by Buckingham Palace. Almost one million Australians served in WWII, with almost forty thousand servicemen and women losing their lives - mostly in campaigns across the Pacific. Join us as we remember and recognise their enormous and selfless sense of duty, with this exclusive silver commemorative.
