THE ANZAC LEGEND IS BORN.

‘Gallipoli Landing and Birth of The ANZAC Legend Silver Commemorative Coin’

The ANZAC Legend was born on 25 April 1915, and manifested itself every day of eight months of crushing combat at Gallipoli. Although there was no military victory, the Australian and NEW Zealand troops deployed their displayed great courage, endurance, initiative, discipline, and mateship. Such qualities came to be seen as the ANZAC Spirit.

Born of egalitarianism, mutual support, larrikinism and a healthy disrespect for authority, the Anzac spirit rejected unnecessary restrictions, possessed a sardonic sense of humour, was contemptuous of danger, and proved itself the equal of anyone on the battlefield.

A nation-defining gestalt, that sees many Australians today still invoke the Anzac spirit in times of conflict, danger and hardship, The Bradford Mint is proud to pay tribute to those brave troops who stormed Gallipoli and gave birth to the ANZAC Legend in this impressively-sized Silver Ten Crowns commemorative coin.

About this coin

The brave men and women who are willing to give their lives in the name of freedom and the country they love represent the very best of who we are as a nation. Born on that ill-fated battlefield of Gallipoli on 19th February 1915, the ANZAC Spirit still burns bright in the breast of all sons and daughters who have served – the ANZAC Legend they personify making them amongst the most respected and revered service personnel in the world. From Gallipoli to the Western Front, Berlin to Long Tan - and every major Allied conflict over the last 100 years - their courage has proven to be boundless, their resilience unending and their determination an inspiration to us all. Which is why this ‘Gallipoli Landing and Birth of The ANZAC Legend Silver Commemorative Coin’ is possibly one of the most important commemorative coins we’ve ever created. Exclusive to The Bradford Mint, this 999 Silver, 5 ounce, 65mm, Ten Crown Commemorative Coin - issued by authority of The Ascension Islands - bears the names of 28 bloody battle grounds of Gallipoli – scenes of crushing combat resulting in countless deaths and casualties along with debilitating, deadly battlefield diseases. These surround two silent sentinels beneath a single ruby red Svenka™ crystal, with heads bowed and upturned rifles, as they remember their lost mates. On the obverse, the effigy of King Charles III is finely portrayed to the highest numismatic standards, creating a fitting tribute to those who fought and fell for our freedom.
