About this set

The very first coin of King Charles III to enter circulation in Britain is a seven-sided fifty pence coin with a design that is a tribute to his predecessor and mother, Queen Elizabeth II. In fact, it’s the ONLY coin of King Charles III presently in circulation in Britain. The new coin has on the reverse the four shields of the four ‘home nations’ of the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This very same design featured on his mother’s Coronation Crown coin of 1953. This set brings those two coins together in a son’s tribute to his mother: the 1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation five shilling crown and the 2022 King Charles III fifty pence. Both coins are cupronickel, the 1953 coin near Uncirculated and the 2022 coin brilliant Uncirculated. This is the first commemorative coin of Queen Elizabeth II and the first commemorative of King Charles III, with the same design, one in tribute to the other!
